SPECIAL TOPICS
From time to time, I produce special handouts, reports, and white papers to fit specific situations. While those documents typically support a specific consulting or classroom activity, they can be of general interest to a wider audience in our industry.
On this page I share just a few of the most popular special topics I have developed in my work with my clients. Topics available here will change from time to time, as new items are developed, and new situations arise.
You are free to download items from this page and distribute them among your staff, or among your membership, subject to the following restrictions:
- You may not modify the documents in any way. In particular, the identifying information about Jeff Judy and Associates, including contact information, must remain in the distributed document. And the document or article must be kept intact. (Contact me if you wish to excerpt something.)
- Naturally, that means it would be inappropriate (and a copyright violation) to extract the content from any of these documents for incorporation into your own work.
- You may not charge a fee or sell these documents, either alone or as part of any product or service you may provide. Should you wish to use any of this content for commercial venture, that is, to re-use part or all of a document in an activity for which you charge a fee, you can contact me for licensing information.
Available Topics
Currently available topics include:
- "Culture Matters": a brief look at some common misconceptions about corporate culture that may be holding back your business. Culture is a key determinant of business success, but you cannot leverage your culture for better results if you do not understand the role culture plays in making your institution nimble, responsive, efficient, and effective.
- "Five Ways to Feel Good While Wasting Time and Money"
Are you getting a return on your investment of your time and money to attend conferences? It's all too easy to look busy, enjoy yourself . . . and bring nothing back with you. Reprinted from my article in the "What Counts" newsletter published by Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle. - "Is Your Credit Policy Working for You?" In 2009, many banks are discovering that their credit policies are not serving them as well as expected. My associates and I have distilled our consulting experience in credit policy and process into a white paper to help you see what typically goes wrong, and how you can approach credit policy development for better results. If you are developing, or overhauling, your credit policy, you can read the executive summary from this white paper here, or contact me for a free copy of the complete 30-page report.
- "How to Go to Banking School" If you are sending your staff to a banking school this summer, this article shares "Nine Notions for Bringing a Competitive Advantage Back to your Bank When You Return to your Desk." This handout is frequently distributed at banking schools to help banks maximize the ROI they enjoy from developing more knowledgeable, more effective employees.
- "The Seven Wonders of the Banking World" I spend a lot, and I mean a lot, of time in the classroom. I wonder why certain participants are there, because I regularly encounter seminar participants whose preconceptions, habits, attitudes, or preparation for learning are lacking. That’s an issue for the banks that pay to send them, so I have described the seven most common things I wonder about these kinds of participants. Use this document to better prepare your staff when you send them to training.
