I have learned, from decades of experience teaching bankers how to work with their business customers, that smart bankers and smart customers are the optimal combination, and that win-win banking relationships are truly possible. That's why this web site, and my business, are dedicated to educating both bankers and their customers, developing the common ground and shared understanding that leads to the best possible outcomes.
I teach and consult in every market in the country (and a few outside our borders). For years, I have applied my extensive experience in this industry to help banks manage risk and optimize performance, and to lead bank employees toward better practices, better decisions, and better results.
And it is precisely that experience with banks and bankers that puts me in a unique position to help business owners learn to tell their stories more effectively, to get more from their relationships with their financial services providers.

- Busy summer! Maybe you saw me at one of the banking schools, institutes, or conferences where I presented, whether in Texas, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Alabama, or Washington.
- Or perhaps you read one of my recently published articles on topics ranging from risk rating systems to culture to leadership to credit policy. My articles appeared in publications such as Hoosier Banker (Indiana Bankers Association), Ohio Record (Ohio Bankers League), and Banking Traditions (Community Bankers Association of Alabama), as well as in the Directors' Newsletter and the Certification Newsletter from ICBA.
- Culture remains a major concern among my clients, with many institutions concerned that strategies and vision formulated by the leadership are not reflected in practices elsewhere within the organization. In fact, this topic has become so important that I am in the process of creating an enhanced section of this web site, and an expanded range of services, to meet this demand. Keep an eye on this site!
- Looking ahead, my fall calendar already shows bookings for consulting, presenting, and training activity in Washington, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Arizona, as well as some webinar activity.
- Recent articles in my e-zine, Jeff's Thoughts, included a three-part series encouraging better thinking and better practices around collateral. See "Rethinking Sources of Repayment," "My Collateral Philosophy," and "Repayment, Loss Mitigation, and Priorities."
I share my insights in the classroom, the boardroom, in presentations to networking groups and business and trade associations, and in press releases and interviews for the general media, through articles in trade newsletters and journals, and via special reports and white papers on various topics.
